KATHRINE DALUZ MAPLE
BIOGRAPHY
Maple was born in Sault Ste Marie, Michigan. She served in the Air Force for 20 years and upon retiring she worked as a graphic artist an studied fine arts at San Antonio College with a concentration in ceramics and painting. She also studied stone carving under Rachman Ulmer. Her brother, artist Steven DaLuz, introduced her to encaustics leading her to create stone and cosmic inspired abstract paintings. Her work has been exhibited in the San Antonio International Airport, including juried shows, such as the Regional Artist Consortium. The San Antonio Current called her work, "expectant and peaceful". Extreme Makeover, Home Edition selected two encaustic pieces Kathrine created for the final showing in December 2012. She was selected as one of 3 finalists at the Smithsonian’s Museo Alameda juried show in March of 2012. Maple's current creative focus is in encaustics.
