CYNTHIA SANDERS

I grew up in Orange County, California in the 1960s and 70s--a time when "Leave it to Beaver" and "Laugh-In" were on a collision course. It was The Age of Innocence ramming headlong into an age of change, radicalism, war, violent protests, and peaceful marches. It was the time of the Civil Rights Movement, the Women's Movement, psychedelic colors, modern design, and, best of all, rock and roll. I am a product of that slice of space and time, and its influence on me is reflected in my art. I am especially amazed at how all things in life run in cycles; how the world of my youth is so similar to the world I am experiencing today. Change is in the air, and with it comes a great excitement: inexplicable energy that I am compelled to capture through art. I can only express myself through what I know--the sights and sounds and feelings of turbulent, exciting times, both past and present. My art represents my experience of these extraordinary times.
