JOHN ROWE

John Rowe has spent his entire life drawing, painting, and observing the world around him. He attended Art Center College of Design for his academic education and graduated in 1980. After graduation, he relocated to New York City. In New York, John worked as an Art Director responsible for print, TV, and outdoor advertising content. His clients included The United States Army, Warner Lauren, Uncle Ben’s Foods, and Smirnoff. In addition, he created original art for advertising, fine art, and publishing clients.

Upon returning to Los Angeles he established “Pet Thief Studios” where his paintings were used as illustrations for major corporations - The United Nations, United Airlines, The Getty Museum, Samsung, and many others. His entertainment commissions included Steven Spielberg, Disney, Universal Studios, and The Academy of Motion Pictures. His publishing assignments included Simon & Schuster, Harper Collins, and Random House.

John began working with Disney Fine Art and would go on to create hundreds of paintings and drawings for Disney that have been commissioned and collected by art lovers around the world. In 2014, Disney held an Art Expo in Japan to share his work with a larger audience.

John was President of the Society of Illustrators in Los Angeles and taught disadvantaged boys art and woodworking at The Optimist Boys Home. He is an artist in residence in his community and continues to work with elementary school children.

Today John’s work is focused on his personal work that are primarily figurative. He is a member of The Portrait Society of America, The International Guild of Realism, Art Renewal Center, etc. and has won awards and recognition for his work.

His work can be found in galleries and private collections around the country.
