Lionel is a full-time portrait artist now and has been preparing 3 years for his first-ever solo show.

At last, I’m free to fulfill my life-long dream of painting portraits full-time. I’ve been drawing, sketching, and painting all my life hoping to have my own show one day. Having Ana invite me to do it is a big honor for me. My wife, Kathy encouraged me and I’m very grateful to her. She’s given me the privilege of showing with her in the past, but this is a first.

The show consists of 31 portraits painted in San Antonio, Castroville, and San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. They range in size from 16”x24” to 5’x5’ and are all framed and painted in oil on fine linen.

Kathy and Lionel both studied under master portrait painters, Nelson Shanks, and Kerry Dunn in Philadelphia. Currently, they are working together on a 5-panel mural (each panel 12’ by 26’) to be finished in porcelain tile for the San Pedro Creek Cultural Park in downtown San Antonio, behind the Spanish Governor’s Palace.
